Updated for COVID-19 policies

Q: What is the background of the stylists blowing out my hair, doing my nails and waxing my face?

A: All TDD team members are licensed cosmetologists, estheticians or nail technicians in the state of North Carolina. Not only have they been educated through school, but they have also completed specific training through TDD to ensure you receive consistent service every time you visit!

Q: Do I need to make an appointment to receive services at The Daily Details?

Q: What products do you use?

A: After an extensive search that included smell, texture/feel of products in hair and depth of product lines, we are so excited to offer our clients Kenra Platinum & Moroccanoil products. Q: So…this might be a dumb question, but what is a blowout exactly?

A: Believe me, you aren’t the first person to ask this question (and you won’t be the last)! A blowout means you come in for a wash and styling of your hair. You know how your hair always looks way better right after a visit to your stylist? Now you can get that look all the time, but without the cutting and coloring and hefty price-tag. Take a look at our 7 daily ‘dos to select your style!

Q: How long does a blowout normally take?

A: We schedule our blowouts for 1 hour to ensure our guests don’t feel rushed. However, depending on your hair type, you could be done as quick as 30 minutes, while the average blowout takes around 45 minutes.*

*Extra thick/coarse/curly/long hair or additional extensions blowout times vary – please select this drop-down option when booking appointments online or mention when calling!

Q: I just worked out at the gym/haven’t washed my hair in days, can I still get a blowout?

A: Of course! Blowouts are perfect when you don’t have the time/energy to tackle your mane yourself. No judgements here, just be sure to mention to your stylist that your hair is dirty to ensure a clarifying shampoo is used.

Q: How long does a blowout last?

A: This is a tough one. Lots of factors go into the longevity of a blowout including hair type, activity level, weather and products used. Your blowout stylist should be able to give you an accurate prediction once you’re sitting in the chair. Hop over to our blog to learn some tips and tricks from our experts to make your blowout last!

Q: What is your hair extensions (bonded/clip-in) policy?

A: While we are happy to service clients with extensions, TDD is not responsible for extensions that come loose or are damaged during the wash or blowout. We realize that extensions are delicate and expensive. We will attempt to be as careful as possible. However, TDD does not assume liability for any damage to extensions as a result of a hair service. Extensions must be provided by the client.

Q: How old do I have to be to receive waxing services?

A: Clients must be 18 years or older.  If under the age of 18, a legal guardian or parent of the child must be present and consent to the waxing service.

Q: What does a waxing service include?

A: All of our services include a consultation, wax, tweeze, trim, skin care and makeup touch-ups. Trying to take care of your unibrow during lunch or in-between meetings? Not to worry, we will cover up your redness so your boss has no idea why you were in the bathroom so long….

Q: I have really sensitive skin. What type of wax do you use?

A: Clients with sensitive skin need a wax that protects them from irritation or rashes. Our Satin Smooth zinc oxide wax is specially formulated for acne or blemish-prone skin, fair complexions, thin or young skin. Recommended for the facial area and sensitive parts of the body, it is the professional’s wax of choice for fine to medium hair and any skin type that requires extra gentle treatment.

Q: How often do I need to get waxed?

A: We recommend 4 weeks in-between appointments for facial waxing maintenance.

Q: How do I know you’re not going to wax half my eyebrow off/make me look like I’m perpetually excited?

A: Amen. We have all been there and it’s the WORST. Not only will our waxing experts talk with you initially about what your ideal brow looks like, but all of our brow experts are licensed.

Q: Do you all service men? My husband needs some TLC for the removal of his unibrow.

A: Yes, the guys are welcomed to come! We are here to help them look GQ worthy. Our waxing services are held in a semi-private area shielded from the view of gawking colleagues and passerbyers.  We even have an escape door out the back (at our Uptown location) to ensure their “manliness” level is kept intact.

Q: What polish lines do you carry?

A: We are proud to carry an extensive array of OPI, Gelish/Morgan Taylor, and NuGenesis brand polishes in regular, gel, and dip powder finishes. We now also offer the vegan brand, Emma.

Q: I don’t see acrylics or nail art on your menu, do you offer those services?

A:  Since consistency and efficiency are the main pillars of operation at TDD, we do not offer nail art or acrylic nails. Our focus is instead on the service itself, while ensuring you get in, out, and on your way!

Q: I noticed you don’t have the traditional pedicure chairs, why not?

A: At TDD, there are no whirlpool jets in our foot baths. Studies have shown that whirlpool jets in foot baths are a primary cause of skin infections due to filters that breed harmful bacteria (ew!). Also, The Center of Disease Control has issued a guideline against the use of whirlpool jets. To protect you, we have porcelain foot baths.  Porcelain delivers purity and cleanliness as it is easy to disinfect (using hospital-grade disinfectant) after each use to kill bacteria, and prevent the spread of germs.

Q: Speaking of cleanliness…how do you clean your nail tools?

A: All of our tools go through a rigorous sterilization process:

1. Instruments are first washed in a hot water and soap solution

2. They are then soaked in hospital-grade disinfectant for at least 10 minutes

3. Lastly, they are placed in a UV sterilizer

Bonus: We NEVER reuse files or buffer on guests.  Everything is disposed of after each client. You can feel certain that the nail file being used on you has not been used on the 50 guests prior (yuck!).

Q: How long do gel manicures last?

A: Gel has really come a long way. Not only does it cut down on wait time (no drying, just UV light curing), but it also can hold up against many activities that previously caused chipping. Most gel manicures can last anywhere between 7-12 days.

Q: I noticed my nails are starting to get pretty thin after getting gel quite a few times, what should I do?

A: Although gel has great staying power, it also wears down your natural nail bed over time. We recommend taking a break every 4 cycles of gel for a week or two to allow your natural nails to breathe and recoup.

Q: I still have gel on my nails, do I need to chip it off before I come in?

A: Repeat after me:! While tempting, this will also chip off a layer of your nail bed along with the super strong gel lacquer. TDD offers complimentary gel removal with any nail service or you can pop in and have them removed without a service for $10.

Q: How about the hubs? Is it ok for him to tag-along and have his hands/feet taken care of?

A: Of course! The males in your life deserved to be pampered just as much as you do. We will take great care in providing him the same great service you can expect (sans nail polish). Please ensure he also has an appointment scheduled.  At this time (due to limited occupancy rules), guests will not be allowed to bring anyone with them to their appointment (including children or infants).
